Mirjam Brett joined ACRE in May of 2007 as Office Manager and Broker’s Assistant. In early 2009 she joined the ranks of Realtors. Mirjam enjoys the diversity of her work and finds much pleasure in helping buyers and sellers through their transactions. Mirjam and her husband Dan had moved from Northern California after both had fallen in love with Vermont and the Middlebury area. With George’s help, they found and purchased a wonderful house on 14 amazing acres in Whiting. Mirjam liked the home buying experience so much that she decided to leave her job in horticulture and join ACRE on a new journey into the realms of real estate.
Born and raised in Germany, Mirjam came to the U.S. after high school to volunteer at the beautiful Redwood National Park in Northern California. There, as chance would have it, she met her future husband Dan. Mirjam returned (with Dan in tow) to Germany to pursue a degree in forestry from the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg. With growing interest in wildlife management, she ventured to make wolves the subject of her final thesis. After many phone calls and much persistence she found what she needed: a pack of wolves in need of monitoring. She set out to northern Wisconsin to do just that. In late 1998 she moved with Dan to Humboldt County, CA where they lived and worked for eight years. During that time, Mirjam’s interest in horticulture grew stronger and she went back to school soaking up everything offered in that field. There came a point, where they had to admit, that their dream of living on some land couldn’t be realized (due to the expensive real estate market in California). In the summer of 2007 Dan went on an extensive road trip to search out a new place where they could fulfill their dream. He so happened to come through the lovely town of Middlebury – and it was love at first sight. The decision was made: they sold the house, quit their jobs, packed all they had (including 4 cats and uncountable plants) into a big truck and drove back east to Middlebury…and finally have arrived in the rural paradise they have dreamt of for as long as they can remember… The paradise is now shared with a flock of pampered chickens.
